NS Operation Lifesaver from Garner NC to Goldsboro NC and back.

Left Garner at 8:30 AM. Arrived Goldsboro at 11 AM. Had a long stop in Pinelevel to get track orders. Track is not signalized from Pinelevel to Goldsboro. Wanted to get photo of Conductor. She was a pretty blonde.

Mayor of Garner and myself.

Pinelevel NC VFW

Beginning of yard at Selma NC [a Conrail engine was at this yard leading 2 other NS engines with a coal train].

The Stallion from the front door of the passenger car.

Wake Co. Revenue Director. He is from Ioway. I know he is glad he left Ioway.

Mayor of Garner and self in Goldsboro after a big bar-be-que and fried chicken

Looks like you had a good time Chief! Nice weather, great ride, and good food. What could be better? Well couple of things…first wold be a picture of that conductor and second, I thought that the South had progressed a bit but I guess not…they even let the Mayor off at the side of the road!

Good photos Chief. Is that a video camera mounted on the hood of that 5826 black horse?

Thanks Strogey. The depot is on the other side of engine. We were parked on this side and headed to vehicle.

Yes, that is a direct lead to the TV screen in each car. You see what the engineer sees. Neat.

BTW: Operation Lifesaver was started in Ohizo. It was due to Ohizo having so many crossing accidents. I guess we now see one thing that is not bad coming from Ohizo. [:-^]

Those are some great pictures, but YOU did say Operation Lifesaver right?? I’m surprised they let you on with that shirt. lol (Surprised they don’t use it as a engine flag, would probably eliminate the need for signals.)

Wifey gave me that. Has rods and reels along with pictures of fish. [^]

Nice Ride CHIEF. Was that a GP38 as the lead engine?

I think I saw that engine a month back along NS’s ex-NYC main line along the Chicago Skyway (I-90)

Do you wear a train shirt when you fish? Have you ever thought you might have your wardrobe selections backwards, again?

Buckeye - I remember my mom having a sofa with that kind of pattern—back in '73.

Chief - We’re all jealous.

…just not of the shirt.

Think it was an SD. 6 wheel trucks.

Appears to be a GP38-2. NS has a couple OL units running around Merryland.

Nice pictures of yourself and Garner Mayor Chief. You’ve got the “right stuff” if you can wear a shirt like that. Reminds me of when I was new on the railroad. Went to work as a fireman (student) and wore a Kromer cap which was what a lot of railroad men used to wear a long time ago. I had a blue one with big white polka dots. That was a real hog head hat. The engineer looked at me like I just landed from Mars.
