Um, let’s see…if you take the numerical placement of each letter for CSX, add them together, multiply by their stock price cubed and divide by the square root of Pi, you get, um…666 !!!
Perhaps you could operate a cross-over section or nearby yards of both? then you don’t have to pick! I love the old Chessie schemes and a few 1:1s still are (or were) around. I don’t much care for the CSX scheme, but the bl/w NS is unispiring as well. NS runs through here, CSX doesnot. I have to go somewhere to see them. Darn.
I would have to say NS, since they’ve been repainting stuff with my beloved PRR reporting marks, and they operate the old PRR mainline through Pennsylvania.
I have a leaning toward the NS, I seem to spend a lot of time modeling that road name.
But, the CSX is not to be ignored. Heck, one of their north/south lines is only 2 miles from my front door. In fact I hear the northbound freight horns around 9:00 AM every morning, and then the southbound freight horns around 5:30 PM everyday. Almost like clock work! And even on weekends and holidays too!
Both are great, but I prefer CSX simply because they run through my town. (and maybe because they got the L&N, but that’s a complete other topic [;)] )
Norfolk Southern is great too, but I just don’t see them around enough to have a great appreciation for them.
My pic is NS all the way. I have alway’s liked them. Since I was young (I guess some of ya’ll might consider 27 still young). I love there color, and of course the horse. Of all of my layout’s I have had it’s been NS. Very rare I had a CSX. I have the best of both world’s here. One side of the Monhoneglia River is NS, and the other side is CSX. [swg]
This topic has activated my “Ignorance and Apathy” syndrome: I DON’T KNOW AND I DON’T CARE!!! It is nice, however, to see something besides a “Which is best: Atlas or Kato? and let’s kick Bachmann around while we are at it!” topic.
We haven’t really had one of these in quite awhile, have we?; maybe I’ll change my forum moniker to ‘unionpacificchuck’ and start one and then sit back and enjoy the 'rockets red glare and the bombs bursting in air"!!!HEE-HEE-HEE-HEE-HEE!!!
