Being and old military aircraft modeler and having seen one of those oddly painted locomotives up close and personal I’d say that looks like U.S. Navy dark gull grey. It’s available in acrylic and regular enamels in the military colors paint rack at most hobby shops.

Yeah im active navy and thought that also but its off also im almost gonna call NS and see what the official name is if there is any

I just saw one of those units about a block from my office. The primer color seems to have a yellowi***inge to it. There’s a beige/grey color from Testors that seems to come pretty close. (Unfortunately, the Testors’ site doesn’t show what their colors actually look like…all the links show the same bottle.) I’ll look when I get home.

That’s why I suggested dark gull grey as it has always seemed to me to have a yellowi***inge to it.

The color is Khaki.

GE had painted a number of demonstrator units with that color before… I remember seeing it on their P32AC-DM demonstrator. I painted up an Athearn AMD103 Gennie in that scheme before (even though the body details is not really correct for the P32AC-DM) using Testors’ Model Master Khaki shade.

Hope this helps!

awesome thanks for the help guys

hey emd
two word GO Steelers!!! sorry had to do it

The photo looks very close to the color of the engine I shot last weekend with Floquil D&H gray.!!

You’re welcome. I did a bit of paint searching at home last night…and apparently the label came off my bottle. That’s why I couldn’t remember the name of that color.

Heh heh. How 'bout dem Stillers? :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw one on the way to work this morning… I’ve always seen Green in it, not yellow… As for matching it, i have no clue whatsoever…

I saw three of the new NS ES40DC’s in primer yesterday.

Start with a Kato undec. all you would have to do is add the lettering.
