possible. Last fall I tried to take pictures of NS trains along a pasture. The horses were tame and came up to us to be patted. Would be willing to give it another try when it warms up.

Could be real, depending on the horse. A young horse who feels good might enjoy pacing the train. It would be pretty easy for someone (off-camera) to frighten the horse at the right moment so a waiting photographer could take the picture. I’ve done somewhat similar stuff with young bulls/steers/heifers.
It could be real. I’ve seen films of horses pacing a 611 excursion back in the '80s, LONG before photo shopping was even thought of.
Would you not want a fence between your horse and their horse?
