NS Police Officer shot in Chicago

I just heard on WLS that a NS police officer was shot in Chicago trying to protect someone else.

He’s in critical condition at the hospital.

The guy who shot him was killed by an off duty Chicago city cop.

This is just another sign of the times that we are living in, and it is very sad. Too many people lack respect for authority, too many people lack respect for human life. And far too many young, STUPID kids carry guns without ever thinking of the consequences of misusing them and destroying innocent lives.

Always bad news when this type incident occure. hope he recovers.[:(][:(]

Just heard that the NS officer’s condition has been upgraded from critical. Two dead in the shooting incident.

Here’s a link.

Hope he survives his injuries!

Another person shot for no good reason other than he was trying to do his job…what is this world coming to?

Good to see the shooter failed the Darwin test.

Another perp gets what he deserves. Hope the officer was wearing his vest.

Great that the good guys won!

I hope and pray that the railroad officer makes a full recovery.

What is a NS cop doing in a domestic dispute? He seems to be way out of his terrotory

because he’s a citizen before he’s a NS cop. what else was he to do, stand around and watch this crime go on that he could stop just because it was off RR property? i suppose he could do that but he’d probably feel pretty guilty about it.

then again it could’ve occured on RR property, it doesn’t really say.

In Illinois, and in most other states, railroad police have full police powers, they aren’t just security guards. I’m not sure of jurisdictional limits.

The NS (and other railroad) cops have full police powers and are licensed to carry firearms. This guy actually witnessed the shooting from his squad car and “got involved” even though he could have easily just called for CPD backup, but he did what he needed to do and paid a price…GOD BLESS HIM and all like him!

First of all, it was a kidnapping, not a domestic. Secondly, it was just down the street from an NS line and he was in the neighborhood patroling RR property.

LC

Yes but… Will NS pay his workmans comp if he got shot off railroad property?
in a incendent that was not related to the railroad[|)][?].

Doesn’t it matter? What is more important to a police officer in whatever jurisdiction?; keeping in the confines of workrmans comp just in case or saving lives?
