This should just be titled, “NS attempts to control the weather through freight railroading” That would be a lot simpler. What a waste of corporate talent on a non-existent problem.
As serious a problem as global warming is every little bit helps right now. Sticking ones head in the sand is not a solution. When one has Billions of dollars of structure at risk one pays attention.
How about reducing the visual impact of all those graffiti laden NS fright cars?

Why are so many rail fans global warming deniers? Sort of weird.
I have to agree with Orr and Brandley here. The global warming-cooling climate change farce is costing untold amounts of money on a false premise, that being we can alter the climate, whatever it may be doing. The Chinese and Indians are building coal fired power plants, far offsetting any perceived “improvements” here. The Tier-4 regulation has sounded the death knell for the two-cycle locomotive engine that changed the face of railroading as well.
