Have not seen the old NS/Southern remote cars in a while. I know they are getting close to 40 years old, have they been retired/scrapped?

what remote cars?
When radio controled slave locomotives first came out the receiving gear was large and was carried in a “remote car” connected to the slaves. CP and BC Rail each had several.
BC Rail had 10 using Locotrol-1 in retired locomotives,
RCC1-ALCo FB-1 ex SP&S 210
RCC2-MLW FPB-2 ex CN 6845
RCC3-CLC CFB16-4 ex CP 4455
RCC4-CLC CFB16-4 ex CP 4456
RCC5-EMD F7B ex BN RCC 106 ex GN 307B
RCC6-EMD F7B ex BN RCC 107 ex GN 313B
RCC7-EMD F7B ex BN RCC 108 ex GN 448B
RCC8-EMD F3B ex BN RCC 109 ex NP 6011B
RCC9-EMD F7B ex BN RCC 111 ex NP 6008B
RCC10-EMD F7BexBN RCC 112 ex GN 455B
Remote control receiver cars, especially like those on CP and Southern, are long gone due to advances in the technology. Most receiver equipment is now carried aboard the locomotives themselves.
