NS vs. BNSF

Out of these two major “Class 1 railroads”, who do you say has the upper hand in railroading at this time.[?][?]
Thanks

I’d say BNSF because they are bigger, and they have more money. BN + SF = lots of $$!
Also I am more farmiliar with BNSF.

Maybe in a couple of years it will be BNSF+NS and not NS vs. BNSF

Both seem to be doing good, however, simply because BNSF has more track does not mean that it is better. It is how a company uses the track that it has that counts. For example, BNSF could have more track than NS, but if NS manages and uses their track very wisely and more efficiently than BNSF then NS could be better. The two companys also serve two different parts of the country. This makes it harder to compare the two. A good comparison would be UP vs BNSF and CSXT vs NS, and maybe CPR vs CN.
