NTSB calls on Amtrak to record and review crewmember actions

Just wondering if the NTSB has ever asked for inward-facing cameras on commercial aircraft?

More BS from people who have never run a train around a Christmas tree.

Amtrak is a federal corporation, aircraft are private, theres a big lobby in DC for the airlines, what lobby does Amtrak have? Just remember Amtrak hires its conductors to be an engineer, a passenger conductor with all the time in the world, doesnt compare with an experience engineer with prior rr experience, that kid who was at the controls of the Philly crash had no prior rr experience, yet I have prior rxperience yet they always turn me down AND I have a clean record, so yea put those cameras in!!!

Big Brother is watching you!

I’ll bet the families of the Amtrak 188 victims, who are looking for some resolution in all this, don’t mind one bit that the NTSB wants Amtrak to install video and audio gear. I certainly wish it could be aboard before I travel with my grandchildren on Amtrak later this month - just in case, God forbid, an accident investigation should be necessary.

Britt, National Association of Railroad Passengers ( NARP ) is the lobbying group for Amtrak, Thanks ! I wasn’t aware that Amtrak expected their conductors to also qualify as an engineer,

Don’t give up on your dream, Brit.! Keep trying, and someday you’ll be a fine conductor and engineer !

Britt: It appears that you didn’t your homework. If you had you would have known that the engineer of 188, started out as a Conductor for Amtrak before taking a promotion as an engineer. So, he did have railroad experience.

Jim, I think you need to read Britt’s comment over again because I think you misunderstood him. I believe he was referring to the #188 engineer’s young age (32?) and possible lack of experience in the cab (at the throttle). Being an Amtrak conductor doesn’t necessarily give you the experience you need to be at the cab controls, especially on a very busy and fast track like the NEC. Sounds like Britt has had experience at the cab controls.
