This is prewar and its identical to the 45 n except it has a bell inside I had one as a kid but the 2 got sold now would like to get that back well one identical to it anyway I just bought a 45n with original box and instructions. So If you know the number would be very thankful

Hey I belive that would be a 76 bell shack. Same building and base but without the guy inside. Has thebell inside and the base is red and roof is orange orange instead of green and red.
BTW there are several variations on the 45N, I like the early one with a white metal chimney abd the diamond look out for the trains sign. I’d like to make one up with a latticed post instead of the solid one! These early accesories are just great. Unfortunately the 76 can be a bit more pricey than the 45N…

They have one on eBay right now just checked for $45.00 but it also has a bell on there post I don’t remember mine having that or ever seeing any with that but guess it was another variation of it .
I also noticed befor bidding the red lens on base id missing off mine but I believe I can get one or manufacture one some how .
Yea, I am petty sure I’ve seen some with the bell on the post. Good luck its a neat item, well they both are! If you like these, there is also a Marx gateman in an orange/reddish/white tin litho shack that is very cool. There also was a Colber version as well. All super neat!

Your 45N isn’t missing a lense. The 45N uses a red bulb under that hole to illuminate the lantern. On the earlier 45 and 045 gateman, Lioonel put a piece of red celluloid in the hole and used a clear bulb underneath the celluloid to produce the red glow. Your 45N looks to be in great shape.
