Nuther' Bizarre Question from Jake

OK, I hope I’m not wearing out the technical brains on here. I’d like to make an engine and a caboose run on a straight piece of track, say about 6 feet long, when it gets to the end of the track, somehow the whole mess will reverse and run backwards to the starting point, and continue this cycle. Is this even possible? I feel pretty competent with electronics and track wiring, but I can’t figure out how to make this one work. Any ideas? Thanks, Jake

Hi
You need an two position reverse unit and one microswitch in each end. So the microswitch will interrupt the power for few seconds, enough time for the e-unit.
Now if you have 3 position e-unit you need to use an timer in second for the interruptions.
I hope to help you good luck
Andre.

Is any of this even possible with the Lionel 1666’s that I run? I love those engines, my dad had one when we were young, my brother runs it now, so I’ve found a few of them to run. Can you explain in detail a little more about the process for this? Thanks, Jake

Jake, Check out this item.

Looks like just the ticket. I guess you would need two of them to do what you want to do.

Jake, Did this help you?

Yes it sure did, and I found a company that makes them for $27.00 and would only use one of them. Thanks much for writing, Jake
