Would anyone happen to know where this loco is today? I drink coffee with a retired engineer and he asked about this loco and I told him I’d see if I could find any info on it. Any pics? He remembered it being painted red, white and blue.[:D]

Not sure where it is today; I’m not sure if NS has any N&W SD45s still running.
The complete story of N&W 1776 appeared in a recent issue of THE ARROW, the magazine of the N&W Historical Society. Included are color pictures as well as color drawings of several schemes rejected on the way to the one they used.
If you get into the N&WHS website, you may be able to purchase back issues of THE ARROW.
