I saw at Broadway-Limited a P&LE 8742 in Pacemaker or Pullman-green- is that engine right?Was they painted so - in what era was that and what does it say/ for what stand this?

P&LE did indeed have NW-2 locomotives in that number series. Like many subsidiaries of the NYC, the engines were lettered “New York Central System” with a small P&LE designation somewhere on the unit.
I cannot find any color photos that suggest anything other than black paint but they could have very well been painted a dark green that looks almost black.

Some of the P&LE diesels were indeed painted in a unique green scheme. However, without a photo I can’t tell you for sure if the BLI is correct.
You might try Fallen Flags or some other site for a photo of that class of P&LE loco.
