NYC diesels

Hi, I´m Christian from Germany,

can me someone show photos of NYC diesels:F7a :1765,1690,1834(possible the site with nose-ladder) and F7b 2469,

Thanks forwart!

Enjoy!

http://rr-fallenflags.org/nyc/nyc-ft.jpg (Unfortunately, this is a much-smaller photo than I wanted. 1690 is the lead unit, followed by two FTs)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find photos of the other 3 units on that site. I even checked the Penn Central photos as well–many NYC F units lasted until PC,and had the same numbers. I don’t recall any NYC F unit with a nose ladder. I think the Baldwin RF16s owned by NYC (later sold to the Monongahela) had nose ladders, but not the F units.

ChristianH,

I apologize for our miscommunications. As originally built, the F units had only a ladder rest on the nose, similar to the one above the numberboard on 1726: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/nyc/nyc1726s.jpg

Later, they got the grab irons going up the nose, similar to 1756: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/nyc/nyc1756s.jpg

When you said “nose ladders,” I thought you meant an actually ladder mounted on the nose–I’ve seen shots of some Baldwin units, not NYC though, with them.

Also keep in mind that these modifications weren’t done at the same time–I’ve seen shots of lightning-striped F7s into the 1960s…even though that scheme had been replaced years earlier.

Again, I apologize for the confusion.
