Playing with NYC #8607 VO-1000 pulling a Pacemaker freight. Yeah, I know, not prototypical but I am just having fun. Need to learn how to improve sound and lighting.
First time with new Sony cam corder. I am acquiring a few more Pacemaker box cars but I think 16 or 17 will be the limit. All have different numbers.
The cam corder also does tape which looks better than digital but do not know how to change to digital for You Tube.
Yeah, I saw that when I got home. Probably have to bring a laptop for quick viewing. I will look at the manual and see what there is for stability besides a tripod. I do have a tripod but forgot to bring it to the club.
I can easily delete those movies using Edit and put in the new ones.
The manual is all on a PDF document in my laptop. No printed manual.
I might try to make a small printed manual by putting two pages of the document on a single sheet of paper by turning the page 90 degrees to one side onn the PC.
I think the paper is too thin to do double side printing. I shall see.
This is a second video of my NYC Pacemaker freight. The locos are Broadway F3’s in a Lashed-up mode. They are 1607 A unit and 2407 B unit. Those numbers were assigned to freight.
The caboose is not correct. I have a correct brass one that is being painted up in the Pacemaker livery with decals to be applied after painting. Five were made using old forty foot fishbelly freight cars specifically for the Pacemaker freight drags.
The Pacemaker freight only existed for a few years. They were run only on New York Central owned tracks as the cars did not have the required labeling for running on another road. Usually they were in a eighty to ninety car freights. A Mohawk is shown in advertising photos hauling the freight cars.
Eventually the cars were repainted in standard NYC livery.
The NYC F3’s did not have the Mars light and only had one headlight, the upper one. The two lights are a Broadway thing.
Also, the everything need some light weathering.
The caboose in the video is a Trix model. I found it at Jay’s Trains for $35.00. Those are going for more than that on ebay. MR Feb 2005 had a review of the Trix car with suggestions to modify it because it was not completely accurate.
The brass one I found is by NJ Custom. Below is a picture of a painted one. My caboose came unpainted. My caboose, 20112, will have black lettering. Caboose 20112 originally had white lettering and was re-lettered using black letters.
