O/027 Scale track outside

Hello, was wondering if anyone has run O or 027 track outside? Can any type of track in this scale take the weatehr very well? Thank you.

I think I saw a post over on the classic toy trains forum about this. I remember seeing it though. I will search for it.

Thank you!

You should be able to run outside ok, I’m not sure how robust the track is as far as weather is concerned though. What are the rails made from? Stainless steel is very good at surviving the weather as are nickel-silver and brass (though the latter does need regular cleaning).

Gargraves makes stainless steel with plastic ties, and Atlas makes nickel silver. Most other types will rust and turn to junk.

I believe that the Atlas track has UV protected ties, so it will hold up best outside. MTH Realtrax should also do okay, provided that you solder the connections. Gargraves stainless with wood or plastic ties would also probably be okay, but keep in mind that I don’t think that the plastic is UV protected.
