Living on long island, I have a great interest in the Long island railroad, but I dont really dont know what LIRR items in O scale have been made. I know lionel made a Long Island C-420, cars, and caboose in 2006 I believe and the M7 last year, but does anyone know of any other LIRR items?
I think K-Line made a LIRR 027 style Alco passenger train.
Lionel has made the ALCo C-420 and matching heavyweight cars in the gray Dashing Dan scheme. Lionel has also made a LIRR bay window cabin car.
Lionel has also made a LIRR 4-6-0 “ten wheeler”, and a 4-6-0 Camelback.
K-Line made the O-27 sized “Greenport Scoot” set for many years. It had a powered ALCo FA-2 “Power-pack”, three O-27 coaches in light gray with blue stripe, and one Parlor Car with red stripe. It also came with an MP-15 for Push-Pull service.
K-Line also made a LIRR GP-38, and a set of aluminum cars with detailed interiors in gray/blue stripe and a gray/red stripe.
Atlas-O has made a LIRR starter set available through Nassau Hobbies in Freeport.
MTH has made at least one run of LIRR G-5s locos, a set of late 19th Century passenger cars, and several freight cars.
I’m sure there are more, but that’s just off the top of my head.

Jon, Thank you VERY much for your response. I had no idea that greenport scoot set was real, I saw it in a museum in Greenport itself and thought it was custom! I had no idea all that stuff was out there. I know this is alot to ask, but if you come across a link to any of it, can you please post it here
Thanks!
Lionel made a Long Island Railroad GP-20 power unit and dummy in 1973. The dummy has the distinction of being the first MPC era engine with a horn. The numbers are 8360 (power) and 8367 (dummry). These engines are actually rather uncommon, and typically draw a higher price than many of the other Geeps of that era.
Yeah, I know of those. problem is, that LIRR actually never had Geeps with liverys like that. I found that really strange. the Dummy unit is on ebay now.
lionel also made what are sometimes called ‘the rats’. it’s a 2 unit set with pantagraphs.
3rd rail brass made lirr mp54 cars
golden gate depot makes lirr passenger cars
weaver made a lirr rs1
atlas o made lirr rs 1’s
mth makes lirr engines and passenger cars
for specialty lirr cars see the n.l.o.e. clubs website
hope this helps
Go to Lionel’s website and in the product locater enter Long Island into the search box, you will get quite a few items, most are rather pricey though. You will also find a few different items if you search for LIRR.

billbarman, here’s a link for the K-Line Long Island stuff that should help you out:
http://www.legacykline.com/apps/kl/catalog.html?useraction=road&p_road_name=Long+Island+Rail+Road
Just click on the red colored product number and that will open the page showing the item. You’d have to hunt for these items now, but at least you’ll know what to look for and you’ll have a catalog year and a number.
I would certainly get in touch with the Long Island model railroad gang and check their web site. I know they have had several specialty cars made over the years and probably some special sets put together from different Mfgs. I also believe that Nassau hobbies was the contact for some of these units. Didn’t they make a LIRR Beep?

Don’t forget the Long Island flat cars with trailer loads (TOFC). #8303 Republic Aircraft tank truck trailer, #9008 Entenmann’s Bakery truck trailer, and #9009 Boeing container from Fairchild Hiller and others.
Wow, Thanks to everyone. Theres almost none of this stuff on ebay now, is alot of it hard to find?
This just in
While at YORK yesterday, I came across a gentleman whom had a ton of LIRR custom painted trains.
