O gauge question

Hello, I am not much of an O gauge person, but I have a small loop layout with a drive through siding that was my grandpa’s. I’d like to park a train on the siding while also running one on the loop. Is it possible to do so if I stuck insulating pins in-between the switch tracks and the siding? Keep in mind I am using 3 rail Lionel track and am running postwar trains.

Just pull the pin from the center rail to isolate the tracks. Just pulling the pin should have enough space to insulate the center rails.
