O Gauge Tubular Track and Ross Switches

Has anyone ever used O gauge (11/16 inch tall)tubular track and Ross Custom Switches together? If you did, how did you like it? Did it work well visually as well as in operation? I have a lot of tubular track already, but I like the way the Ross Switches operate (they are really good). I have wondered what it would be like if I used tubular track with ballast and extra ties along with the Ross Switches. Opinions anyone?

You are in luck… Ross now has switches to match “O” track - “RossPlate”- found HERE.

Fixed broken image link.

If you already own Ross switches you want to use they sell pins to go from O gauge to there switches

I would just like to comment I have constant aggravation using Ross switches with all equipment which has slider shoes. They can catch on the guard rails and cause derailments. Further, theslider shoes can become energized when the guard rails are energized by a passing wheelset. This frequesntly causes the opening of coil couplers. I am building a layout now with gargraves track, and the Ross units would be a natural, because I already have a bunch of the double curved as well as the 072 and 042 variety. But I went out and got 022 switches to eliminate problems. I sacraficed some appearance and some lay-out advantages for better operation. Also I like the nonderail feature ofthe 022.

No adapter pins needed with these Ross Switches - they are already tubular “O”.

Already saw that. My comment was if he already had Ross switches.
