O scale caboose detail parts

I am an HO scale guy, but I want to scratchbuild an O scale bobber caboose for a project. I will need detail parts (brake wheels, brake gear, etc.) and wonder what detail parts suppliers cater to the O scale market and might have these items?

Thanks.

Grandt Line is, or was, the supplier to get pretty much all you need for this. They are closing their doors in a month or so, but should still be taking orders. Look at their site for what they offer. Lots of hobby shops, including Walthers, stocks their stuff, so you should still be able to come up with what you need. But, you better act fast.

I’ve heard that someone is interested in buying Grandt Line, but who knows. Hopefully they will still be around.

Precision scale, Chooch enterprises, Ebay… Not cheap. Buying many parts in a batch may reduce the shipping fees.

Benjamin, go to Scale City Designs, who bought and rejuvenated the old Kiel-Line tooling. John Kiel bought the old Walthers O scale line and improved most of it and SCD has refined it even more. They have excellent bobber caboose journal pedestals (e-Walthers) with leaf spring and shackle detail and brass bushings for standard axles. They have tons of other things as well, though you still may want to spend the $20-odd for a Precision Scale O scale catalog, which has unbelievably fine lost-wax castings.

Your choice of O scale is ideal for superdetailing a display model. Good luck and have fun!
