Hey guys! So recently I’ve been doing some O Scale work as well as my N layout. So what do you guys recommend for a good locomotive that has a form of DCC to it? For example, the one RS-3 I have has the Lionel LionCheif system in it which is a simple remote, what other locomotives out there (that don’t cost $5000000) have something similar? I’d like to expand my O Layout to two main lines with two running loco’s using a remote system like that so I can swap them between the main lines instead of having one transformer controlled. Thanks!
Not to blow you off here, but the Toy Train Fourms may be a better place to ask as they deal with O gauge stuff all the time. The Lionel stuff usually uses the TMCC and Legacy systems, which are not DCC compatable but act the same way.
I appreciate the reply! I will look into that, like I said the O Gauge world is a new one for me, I’m much better with N. Thanks for the help I will go there, and actually I think I found the answer on my own too!
3-Rail does not have DCC typically.
The MTH DCS system might work with DCC.
2-Rail O Scale locomotives are equipped with DCC.
The ATLAS TrainMan and Weaver Models locomotives for 2-Rail that have DCC are what is the lowest price option.
2-Rail O Scale is not covered by Classic Toy Trains, but is covered by Model Railroader, and is covered in all the special layout editions.
MTH’s proto sound 3 will work with DCC. It also works with AC, I have not tried it with DC, but it’s supposed to work. The decoder detects the current type although there’s a switch that tells it whether command control is DCC or DCS. With DCC you can run the locomotive at very slow speeds.
