I am working on a 4X8 traveling layout in O scale. I am using MTH snap track with the roadbed. I have a question. I have sraight peices on the side and I need them to be pulled apart. There are little snaps that snap the track together, these are pretty hard to snap together and pull apart. Is ther a way i can cut those plastic parts off and still get current to the track or do I have to buy some more track terminal connector?
Run a screw through the outside hole of each track section to your table…leaving the mounting hole closest to the joint unsecured to the table. MTH track can easily be pulled apart if you slightly wriggle the pieces from front to rear if you first twist apart the joint furthest away from you.
Don’t cut off anything. You’ll never be able to keep the pieces of track together when a locomotive runs over the joint unless you velcro them to the table and keep an eye on the brass tangs that carry the current to make sure they maintain contact.
