Although Atlas O is getting and keeping the O scale market pretty well supplied with a variety of freight cars there isn’t much availability of passenger equipment, particularly modern stainless steel passenger equipment. A little, yes — but not much. Does anybody know of a supplier of any kind of “blanks” or “Core kits” for building modern passeger cars in O?
If you dig around enough, you can still find Walther’s passenger cars (late steam/diesel transisition era) at shows and swap meets.
Much as I hate to mention it, I have seen some converted from 3 rail Lionel and MTH cars that look pretty good. Occasionally, one can find some 2 rail Weaver passenger cars too.
Now, I have read, that OK Engines in Herkimer NY makes extruded aluminium car blanks, BUT the company’s websiite is not all that helpful.
I have a few of Ed Alexander’s extrusions that I got from the Armstrong estate, they need ends, windows punched out, etc…
Seeing as how I model the 1970s, I don’t need much (read any) passenger equipment.
