O Scale?

What are some of the pros and cons of O scale? Thanks, Stephen

Bigger size for easier building and seeing. Extra weight means fewer electrical pickup problems. More massive feel to it when a train rumbles by.

Downside is that you need 4 times the area to do the same thing in O as HO. Scenery is usually limited to trackside since it takes a lot of room to get depth to the scenes. Buildings can be overwhelmingly large. If collecting a lot of pieces is part of the fun for you then O prices can be a problem. If you can limit yourself to just what you can use on the layout then the total price isn’t that different for the same layout size. Yeah I know, I buy more than I can use too.

Go with S scale it has the advantages of of O and HO while minimizing the disadvantages.[:D][:D] That’s what I did - started in HO, switched to O then to S.
Seriously, all scales are a compromise - you just have to pick what works for you.

Enjoy
