Out of curiosity, I downloaded IE7. While all online pictures and graphics look fine, ANYTHING that contains type ( obviously anything you read ) is fuzzy or almost out of focus !?! Has anyone else noticed this ? Am I missing a setting ? All my offline content and e-mail all still look razor sharp. HELP !!!
When I reply to any of these threads, there is a funny, much longer and convoluted configuration of the reply box that wasn’t there until the change last week. And I am running IE6 because of all the problems with IE7. I had intended to update once the software bugs were fixed, but now I’m thinking I’ll stay with good old #6 for a while yet. I can live with the funny downloads when I reply.
Selecting Clear Type was one of the options as I installed IE7. To do it after the fact, go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced, and scroll down until you see a check box marked “Always use Clear Type for HTML” and make sure that box is checked.
Cleartype is selected by default with the installation of IE7. It eliminates jaggies around the edges of the fonts, and they tend to look a little blurrier than they used to. Perhaps you’ll get used to it. But if you want to go back to standard type, just uncheck the box in Advanced Options.
If you want the tabbed browsing that you can get with IE7 but also want a browser that will work with current sites (IE this forum) I recomend FireFox, either ver 1.5.0.8 and 2.0.
I personally don’t have issues with IE6 but find the tabbed browsing to be a huge asset so typically use FireFox for my default browsing.
I’ve found that IE7 has major issues with this forum, especially when it comes to quoting an existing post.
The forum upgrade took care of the IE7 issues. It now works very well with this forum. This quote was done with IE7. The picture posting works fine. Editing posts works fine. Tabs works great and the zoom function (Not available on FireFox) works really well. I run both FireFox and IE7 and find myself using IE7 out of preference. I have had no issues at all, it is much better than IE6. Even the Google spell checker works fine in the forum window under IE7.
