Oak creek coal trains

Hi, where dose most of the coal for the oak creek power plant come form? Dose it come from the powder river basin? Or out east? I heard the UP has to add an ATS mooter on the train at Proviso, so most of the trains use the Milwaukee sub to the Lake sub, then the Kenosha sub? Or do they use the EJ&E now CN to Waukegan? Please let me know thank you.

Most of it comes from the Powder River Basin, but I guess they mix in some higher-sulfur stuff from the east–I’ve seen some WEPX cars being brought in to Proviso with NS Power.

Those trains from NS are the ones that would have to have something added to operate on the Kenosha Sub. These trains (all of them) still go over the all-UP routing. However, UP has installed its own cab-signaling system north of Lake Bluff so the locomotives don’t require ATS.
