October ‘21 Coffee Pot. Brewing eye of newt, polyjuice potion, worms wort, and GRITS in the cauldron for 17 years.

Boo ya! Happy Fall, ya’ll.

LOL! I love the title for this month.

Northwoods Flyer

Aw nuts, I went to the supermarket today and forgot the eye of newt. [:(!]

Happy October!!!

The Princess and her furture husband have decorations in full swing, in and out…with more to come.

Up in the train attic last night, found what I was looking and then some. Need to do a trash run up there, I have a few empty boxes that need to go.

I DID find my HO slot cars, some priced at $10.99, some are going for 3 times that much!! They are going over to Jenni’s for display and new tires, once I find the right ones. I have a BUNCH from 1972 and some older.
Unearthed 2 8633 Chessie steam engines 1 missing a tender, a 2035 and a NYC 2-4-2 with TrainSounds, a couple of new in the box K Line cars and a 50’s era Lionel Lines tender - no whistle - in the box.

Jenni came over for a bit and talked with the kids, we stayed over my house after we had Moe’s for dinner.

55F right now - low 80s later. Work is a bit slow, so I’ll be able to pack for our trip to Strasberg after work.

Prayers for da Chief and DJ’s co-worker!!

95 today and tomorrow

How often do you guys run your trains and do you only run them only briefly or for awhile?

Once, maybe twice a week, and then for about a half-hour or 45 minutes. Sometimes an hour if things are really goin’ good.

Dennis, more in the winter and less in the summer. I like to feel the ZWs warm up before I shut down. [(-D]

Thanks for the up-date Don. [bow]

Darn shop still has our 590i XUV now three weeks for a 2.5 hour job. She said two weeks when I left it there. [:(!] Harvest season is not a good time to drop off things at John Deere for repair. AG gets all of the first shots from the guys that have the wrenches. [:S]

Been above normal for temps and dry. That will change soon.

Mornin’ guys and gal(s). Sunny and 50 in the Potomac Highlands. “Off” day today, put in quotes as I have a little more painting to do on vacationing princess castle… Will catch race at 'Dega.

Good three consecutive train trips bing-bang-boom Friday and Saturday. “Walked” 108 miles and my paws were barking…[(-D]

Mornin’ all!

Up early to get Corey out the door. Going back to bed the second the bus comes, slept poorly last night.

Was really happy with the weather last week, getting down into the high 40’s/low 50’s at night, thought for sure fall was here. Nope, been getting up into the mid 70’s during the day, only getting down to the mid 60’s at night. Still too warm.

Been doing a little bit here and there on the viaduct project. Got up in the attic last night to glue some pieces for the 2nd set of abutments. This set definitely become more complicated, I think I over complicated the design. Ah, well, it’s the only set for an arched bridge, so it’ll be a one off.

Have a good one!

Mon. 92 Tue. 85 Wed.84

Noisy trash truck day, big day for my Border Collie.

We had a leaking oil pipeline in the ocean here. Now the politicians will use this to further curtail oil production and raise the price of gas even more. Its around $4.40 now.

Very nice out, mid 70s with sun.

Gas here is $3.30 here Dennis.

I heard that the TX. company that owns that pipeline got a lot of free money from the goverment’s big giveaway in 2019 and did not spend it on up-dates. Instead they did a stock buy back with “our” money. Go figure, big corp. Someone should be locked up!

Ran trains last night, swapped out some of the motive power and got both ZWs warm. [Y]

JD 590i is still in the shop. Screwing up my trip to the north woods. [:(!]

Prayers for Frank. [angel]

Morning all.

Gas here is running between $2.73 to $2.89 a GL.

Otherwise still going thru my trains and trying to decide to keep or get rid of, as I don’t have room for them all anymore. :frowning:

New house train room not as big as the old house, But as a whole, the house is bigger, ie bigger rooms and more rooms.

Kevin that you said about the Oil Company I would not doubt it a bit. there was so much of that happening with big companies. from what I heard.

Hope all have a good day

Howdy all.

Went into work today, got back a little while ago. 5 of us were in. First time I’ve been in since the beginning of the summer.

So the news is bad: they’re gonna take my colleague off of life support tomorrow. We had a rollout meeting at 4:00 with the other staff members who weren’t there, then after that ended the owner told the 4 of us. Just a rough time, sitting there no knowing what to say. We’re all hurting.

Not much else going on. Talked with Tyler the whole trip home, will be seeing him when I go down Sunday.

Have a good one!

Mornin’ all.

Up early to get Corey out the door. Also doing a restore of a copy of the production DB for a dry run of the database upgrades necessary for a rollout tonight. We usually do the dry run around 1 PM; normally I restore it and my colleague Larisa would get it ready to test against later today. So I’ve got to assume her duties for that from now on. No biggie, but there will be more that will fall on my shoulders going forward.

Hopefully going to get the spiders down from the attic this afternoon and start setting them up. With me being in Virginia for the next 2 weeks Corey would like to get them up, otherwise we’d be putting them up right before Halloween. I’ve got my viaduct project all spread out in front of where the Halloween decorations we use are stored. I’ll need to move that so that we’ll have easy access and I’ll be able to continue working on it piecemeal.

Have a good one!

Wed. 84 Thur. 70

I’m going to my cardiology today. I got a stent 4 years ago and this is for tests. Probably and I hope so a waste of time but medicare pays for it and at my age it’s good to get checked.

On the way home Shakey’s Pizza lunch time buffet.

Good afternoon!!

Wow!!! What a trip to Strasberg!!! We both got goosebumps, such a massive and beautiful machine. The trip was great except a moron was with us with tripod to video just the sounds of the trip and kinda ruined it for all of us. We were literally 6’ from the tender. Memorable to say the least. I had a nice talk with the engineer of #89, turns out he ran all the south Jersey lines from 30th Street Station to AC, Cape May and everything south of Lakehurst. It was amazing some of the things he saw and experienced. AND he took notes. I told him he should write a book… undoubtedly our best visit yet. Took the last minute tour of the PA RR Museum (again) ended the night at Casey Jones restaurant. I had the pot roast (which was amazing) and Jenni had the salmon. Those that saw my posts on the Book of Face understand what we saw. Just an amazing day.
On the way home, I stopped to render assistance to a 1 car MVA on US 202, I had an extinguisher on board, the car caught fire, I knocked it down until the “career” guys showed up. At least the Troopers were cool.

Yesterday (and

I had a bad experience still kind of upset. My Del Sol has been reliable, I drive it all the time. I come out of Shakeys and it wont start, it won’t crank at all, turning the key to the crank position and nothing. The battery is pretty new.

I walk home a long walk and get my Integra and go back to Shakeys. I have free towing with my insurance and I call them, this took awhile but I waited for the tow truck nearly 3 hours, The insurance co. called me several times and they would call the tow co. Thank goodness my iphone was near full charge. I had brought a magazine but 3 hour wait was vey stressful and anxiety.

I finally got the car to my mechanic and he tried a few things and decided for me to leave it. Fortuanatly the bus goes near his shop and my house. I sure was glad to get home.

I have old cars and have had a couple of other bad towing experiences. I could afford a new car and think about it some. I like my 2 cars. At least it was nice day not cold or at night

Prayers for the chief as I hear he has been returned to the hospital

Dennis, my Ranger did the same thing about a month ago. Lucky for me it was in the garage when it happened. It was the starter, just like that dead with no problems till it died? In the old days they would give you warning before they quit.

Prayers for Frank!

Found out earlier this afternoon that my colleague passed away last night. I’m ineffably sad right now. I will miss her: she was my colleague, my friend, my collaborator on no small number of projects, and someone whose opinion I respected. The office won’t be the same without her. I’m just kind of numb right now. She leaves behind a husband and a daughter Corey’s age.

Prayers go out to the Chief.

Have a good night everyone.
