I have a quantity of an odd track and would like help identifing it. It is O but has a small rail between the center and outside rail. It also has a masonite like fiber board backing permanently attached to each section. Curved sections are banked as well… Can anyone ID?? thanks, Reg

From the sound of it, you have American Flyer O gauge track from the mid-1930s. Flyer tried an on-board whistle in the mid-1930s, but to get around Lionel’s patent, Flyer used a 4-rail track to activate the whistle. I don’t know how well the whistle worked, but the whistle and the 4-rail track disappeared from Flyer catalogs only a year or two after it debuted. Flyer also may have made some banked track to go with its sets during the same period, which is a further clue that you have Flyer track.

Neil, Buy banked track,you mean that the inner rail,is lower, then the outer rail, I have seen something like what you are talking about ,but this is a curve section,was ther maybe an artical in “CTT”, with a picture of the track??? & thanks
