Hi Guys,

Hope someone here Youtube savvy because I have trouble uploading.

I have short (5 minute) regular def movies I compile with Windows Movie Maker… they end up with a .wmv extension.

I try to click on the youtube upload icon… but nothing happens… then I go to the basic uploader option which gets the upload process started… the uploard gets about half done, then stops… if I try it repeatedly, I eventual get a complete upload, and my movies DO successfully end up on Youtube… but it is such a hassle to wait, and to try uploads repeatedly for the same movie. Same thing happens with Mozilla or Explorer

How’s your Internet connection? They do a big sell on “blazing fast downloads” but the upload capacity is much smaller on many systems.

Try it on weekends, or maybe very late at night or early in the morning. Avoid peak traffic, which is most of the business day, plus early evenings for residential communities.

If you have true high-speed at work, maybe you can bring in a disk and upload from there.

Could be your internet service provider. Or possibly youtube itself. Try later at night or earlier in the morning. Sometimes servers get bogged down.

I’ve had it hang during the processing portion of the upload and had to redo them, but not during the actual upload itself. Sometimes they are really, really slow and after a few minutes start creeping along again. And mine are usually around 3 minutes long. Like they say, try again late at night or early morning when the site might be slowest.

.wmv wont upload to youtube.

Don’t use Movie Maker, at least, when I tried uploading via the Youtube button there, it didn’t work. Instead I saved the file and the logged into my Youtube account and uplaoded it that way. WMV DOES work with Youtube. The three I posted in the thread about the RCT&HS Modular Layout at Timonium are all WMV files.

.wmv WILL upload to Youtube, as the OP said his vids eventually make it there. But x.264 codecs are better and more modern. They also require no conversion once it gets to Youtube so they go live almost instantly where as .wmv files can take a long time for Youtube to do the conversions to Flash and x.264.

I think you will find the Upload process to Youtube always has issues even with Youtube partner accounts.
