The March/April 2006 issue of the Canadian Geographic has a very interesting article titled “Off the Rails - A trainman’s take on toxic derailments”.
The author, C.J. Conway, discusses the problems of long train running , particularly in the Cheakumus Canyon north of Squamish B.C, on what used to be a BC Rail route that is now part of CN. There are a number of stunning photos of long trains snaking along mountain sides.
The magazine issue is the one with a towering iceberg and the caption “Titanic Ice” on the cover.
