This upcoming week is Reading Railroad Days at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg (across the street from the Strasburg Railroad - ride on a steam powered train), and as usual I will be there helping with the Reading Company Technical and Historical Society modular layout which we be on display for the duration of the show. HUGE layout - not sure where it will be at this time, but definitely over 110 feet long. DCC, fully operational signal system with JMRI.
Show runs July 3-8, museum hours, and is open July 4th.
I’m heading down today to check in then hang out int he hotel pool, it’s gonna be a hot one today. Tomorrow it’s time to hit the Strasburg Railroad, by this time I must be closing in on 50 rides, been going there since I was 4 years old. My plan is another first for me there - they are now using former Reading business car 10 in the trains on certain weekends, and this is one of them. I’ve been through the car on a static tour but never ridden in it. 2 years ago I rode in one of the parlor cars for the first time, and also got lucky in that the last run of the day they used the LO&S motor car, another piece of equipment there that I had never been on before.
So stop by for the impressive layout and huge collection of real railroad equipment, and say hello. I’ll be there running trains all week.
