(off topic)- does anyone know how to animate train gifs???

Well, I just e-mailed the Frograil guy to ask permission to use his gifs… hope I get the OK

makes me dizzy[D)]

Im gonna fall off my computer chair[;)]

You will get permission from Frograil to use the gifs.

So i still dont know how you get them to move

This site filters the < move>< /move> and < marquee>< /marquee> HTML tags that work on other sites, so you have to be more creative, and use gif animation software to create a completely self contained animated gif image that you can embed using the standard IMG tags permitted here.

If you have Adobe Image Ready, you can animate anything! : )

well, sorry guys, ive been sitting here playing with this, trying to get them, but im still lost.

i right click, and dont have “properties” on my little list… if i save them to my computer, how do i get them on there? first time ive ever tried to put gifs on, and lost bigger than chit![V]

You are going to need some form of image editing software to “build” the train with, something like Adobe Photoshop, or paint shop pro, or similar. Then it’s just a matter of finding the images you want to string together,

If those are on the web then you right click on them, select "Save as? and make sure you see and remember exactly where in your machine the images are being saved to.

Then, use your graphics application to copy all those individual images into one new image, make sure you make the background for all cars the same color and save that new composite image as a *.gif image specifying the common background color as transparent.

Then upload that new image to an inage hosting service, and link to it here using the image tag

ok, thanks alot for that. not i have to figure out adobe [:)]

but also, how can i find a hosting site?

whoo hoo!, i got it![:D]

Good JOB! man, I knew you could do it…

What you’re referring to is an animated GIF. Each animated GIF has several frames, each displayed in turn at a user determined interval, e.g. 1/4 sec., giving the effect of motion.

One way to make them is to use Adobe ImageReady. The process is to develop each frame in Photoshop and transfer to ImageReady, where you can compose them. Note: if you do this PLEASE LOOK at the resulting size of the GIF before you impose it on the rest of us. Make sure it’s a reasonable size.

The first time you see an animated GIF it may be cute, but I consider it inappropriate to use them in a forum, which exists to exchange ideas. Personally, I see them as slightly self-indulgent and a nuisance, so I have them suppressed in signatures. (Go to your account settings.) You may feel otherwise. If you do an analysis, you’ll find much of your bandwidth is being used to download signatures rather than message text.

I want to thank all of those who contributed to this topic. It has been most enlightening. [:D]
