Hi everyone I know this is really off topic but I’m sure all have you have read or heard about this today or late last night. A school bus carrying 30 plus students to a school in alabama went off of a gaurd rail and plunged 30 feet to the ground killing 3 girls and injuring the rest some sevrely. The people on the secene all of the. Firefighters and paramedics and police could not beleave what they were seeing. Also the police are trying to figure out if the only other car involed is what caused this accident. Because they are saying that the car sped past the bus and cut off the bus moments before the bus broke though the gaurd rail and went over. But now the NTSB and everyone else is going to start the campign again about putting seat belts in buses. But if you ask me. I think it would be in one it would be safer but also it could be more problematic cause kids can use the ends of the belts for weapons. But who knows all I know as a bus driver my self I think it would be better if we would get seat belts in busses but then again we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
Union Pacific buses all have seat belts. We are required to wear them or face disciplinary action. School buses should have them too. It’s just idiotic that a parent can be ticketed for not having their child strapped up in the car, but a kid climbs on a school bus and the odds are good that there won’t even be seatbelts provided.
