WOW!!! SP and D&RGW!!!

and CNW!!! That MoPac unit looks nice.

Hmmmm. A little copyright protection there?

Thats what i said. This sucks, more money on CNW stuff. Dang, but they still look nice.

Alec

Don’t they already have the CNW & SP units? Or maybe, two, or three?? Just unpactch a couple. Of course, me thinks the SP unit will be in the famous “Black Widow” paint scheme. The CNW… maybe a variation of the paint scheme used on the first GP7.

Now that I think about it… If UP wanted to mess with some minds they could pull the tarp off of a CSX unit with “UP 2010?” painted on the side.

Well I am not so sure about that but whatever the reason we should enjoy seeing these units. [:)]

The SD70ACes are super nice units. [:D]

MOPac used a dark blue not light blue but that unit is a nice paint job. [;)]

I can’t wait to see one of these beauties in person. [:D] [8D] [:D]

Jim I agree with you the SD70ACe is a really nice unit, no I should say it’s a hot unit heheh, I too think we should enjoy these Heritage units here. I’m going to have to say that I really do like UP 1983 Western Pacific heritage pain scheme the best out of all of the Heritage schemes. It reminds me of a cross between SP’ s Black Widow and WP’s scheme. Nice real nice.

So when can I expect to see the dirty versions of these engines.[(-D][(-D][(-D]

As soon as they begin their first trip on a freight train its all down hill from there.

Now thats pretty slick of em. Looks good.

I’ve heard other stories and seen other pictures, so I may have a different perspective. The designer of this scheme wanted to combine the standard dark blue with a lighter blue that was historically used on passenger equipment. The really neat thing is, the lighter blue is in the shape of the eagle logo, but really huge! Neat creativity putting that together.

That being said, I don’t like 'em! A more true-to-heritage paint scheme would have looked much better. Or maybe even adapting historical paint colors to UP’s current paint layout! Oh well, it’s nice to see that UP is reflecting on their history, for whatever reasons.

I guess I am the only one who thinks these “heritage” paint schemes are a debasement of the real paint schemes.

Do you suppose the D&RGW will be the gold with black striping passenger version or the black freight version? I am not sure which I prefer. The gold version was only used on cab units but is a lot more interesting and beautiful than the black version.

Yes the UPRR lost a court case over trademarks & were told by the judge use it or lose. [:o)][:p]

I’m glad I’m not the only cynic here, it seems like a little brand protection going on. On the plus side it is good to see the old names up and UP does run a major steam program no one else does so maybe its no so bad after all. Like said previously, there are plenty of CNW and SP units already running around!

I am dissapointed. I think they screwed up on these. They should have went with something as close to the original (but at there merging) schemes. That MoPac unit is one ugly duckling. The WP one isn’t as bad but I still think they could have done a much better job on this one. They should have painted the whole thing green. Both these units look like half breed red headed step childs.[banghead]

Hey now, these units look 21st century and very classy, I think it is an improvment of the MP, and the WP just looks cool.

i think they look cool. Would you want to see a sceme that came off an SD40 23 or 24 years ago?

I am of the opinion that if these are heritage schemes they should have gone with traditional colors. Thats all.[8D]
