… is there a formal name for a Tell Tale/Tickler or is Tell Tale its real name?

If you’re asking about the device for warning brakemen about low clearance ahead (like tunnels) back in the days of roofwalks, I’ve always heard them referred to as telltales.
Can’t say as that’s official.
