Have the lines been grade separated? If not, why not?
It would have been hard to grade separate the lines with a highway interchange above most of the approaches to the interlocking. See the pics at the following link.

UP 8915 during a search comes up as a SD90MAC-H. I thought UP retired/scrapped all the H engined locomotives. Were a few retained and retrofitted with 710s?
Perhaps a renumbering?
UP 8915 is a new from the factory SD70AH.
UP 8915 is a new SD70AH just delivered. The remaining SD9043MAC’s were all renumbered to the 3500 series to make way for new units.
A grade separation project was deemed to be too expensive, so capacity improvements for both railroads were undertaken north and south of the tower and a third north-south main line was added.
In the attached picture, that wouldn’t happen to be a railfan area, would it?
Nah, it’s probably to keep the politicians from wandering out onto the tracks and getting hit. Darn!
How bout a couple of pics of the new interlocking???
A railfan area similar to the one in Rochelle, IL is a great idea. I live in Fort Worth and haven’t heard of one. It’s something I, as a taxpayer, would support.
