Ogden and Cache Valley, Part II

Working on control panel boards. The new layout will have 5 control panels which will contain DCC controllers/boosters/lighting power supplies, etc. On the previous layout I had planned to centralize all the DCC controller/boosters in one panel but I figured out that would greatly exceed the recommended track bus runs (even with using 10GA track power bus wiring) so I ended up distributing them in 4 locations around the layout. The new layout will have 5 control panels.

This is what a couple of the control panels looked like on the previous layout:

The Control Panel locations on the new layout. Each control panel location has a switched 20AMP outlet so the layout can be powered up/down with a single wall switch.

Control panels cut and painted. Each panel will have a 6" deep shelf on the bottom to place the DIgitrax DCC boosters/power supplies (like the previous layout).

The control panels will (tentatively) contain the following components:

  • DCS 240+ DCC Main Controller

  • DB150 track power

  • RRampMeter

  • PSX AR - reverse section track power breaker

  • PSX3 - track power breaker

  • 20A 12V power supply - structure lighting

#2)
