Oh Happy Day!

Just got home with my spoils from our local train show. God I love train shows. I found a set of Athearn Genesis Canadian National F7A for $150.00 (Canadian dollars)! They were on the used table but I don’t think they were ever out of the boxes. A P2K 52 foot drop end gondola in CP Rail for $5.00 and some misc decals.

But the best part of all was I found the same train set I had as a kid. Really. It’s a Tyco set and the locomotive was an Alco Century 430 (or as close to one as a Tyco ever came) painted in a fictional Canadiana scheme. And I got the whole set for ten bucks! Everything is still in the box and in absolute mint condition! One of the local train club members got it from a coworker who found it and was going to throw it out. [:O]

Wow! Does that thing bring back memories! I spent hours running that thing around an oval that had one siding my dad put on a sheet of plywood. Many a Matchbox cars met their demise at the grade crossing on that railroad. [:D] I’m going to have to put a decoder in that baby.

Congratulations. Does - I’m just a kid again, doing what I did again., Have more meaning now??? lol

Oh Ya! I think a couple of my son’s Matchbox cars may meet their demise too! (Insert evil laugh here) [}:)]

What local train show was it?

It was our local one here in Saskatoon SK.

I thought that was the main purpose of having a job - so you can buy the same toys you had as a kid!

I’m a member of the club that put on the train show. The F-units belonged to a friend of mine. He had three of them, one with DCC and sound and the others without. He decided to keep the sound-equipped unit.
