Ohio Central Buys NKP 763

Over on the Railway Preservation Interchange Forum, there’s word that The Virginia Transportation Museum has sold Nickle Plate 763 Berkshire to The Ohio Central for possible restoration…OC seems to be heading a small scale steam revival in it’s own right. Who would have imagined this?

if there was a way to get it over there I’m sure they would like to run the nkp 765.

stay safe

Sadly, I think you are sooner to see it airlifted there–under steam no less–than to see it get there via NS.

To me, the thought of seeing a pair of NKP Berks meeting one another would have me headed trackside! It might require an act of congress to get 765 to the Ohio Central, but NS might be willing to move 765 dead to the OHCR. Anything to get the 765 and 763 together, for meets, terminal re-creations, or twin photo freights![wow][:P] Please do not underestimate OHCR or the Fort Wayne group. I have a hunch they will find a way to get the two Berks together! While they are at it they just might get Mikado (2-8-2) 587 there too! Hmmmm wonder if I could [(-D][:P][:P] hey! Anything is possible!!

With Goodie gone I dont think NS may be as bad as you think. There are talks about other steam locos running on their railroad next summer (just ferry moves but still running).
