For that much money there needs to be secure cameras for motion activated still and video recording of the trains and the people. Then those images and video can be put on a website.
How about a place for people to share their digital video and images soon on-line.
Sounds like a great idea – would appreciate parking nearby at the park!

Geez! “Uncle” Dan Willard became B&O president in 1910, well into the 20th century.
C’mon TRAINS!
If you think its a great idea, open your wallet. over $100,000 for a wooden stand is ridiculous. Only in government-land…
Don’t be a scrooge mat. Government will pay 100.00 for a hammer so this isn’t that far out of line.
I think this is a great idea. Thanks also to Trains for getting the word out. I know I need something to do during the quiet times between trains.

This is great news! Drove around Willard looking for a safe and good spot to railfan, but didn’t find one. My group has been railfanning Fostoria, Deshler and Marion for 15 years and would love to ad Willard to the tour. We are a model railroad club in southeastern CT and usually make our annual pilgrimage west in August stopping in Altoona and Harrisburg, PA as we return to CT.
Thanks again Mr, Gauthier. I do believe we have finally gotten the editors’ attention. The most vocal of the trolls is clearly gone, while another prominent one seems to be keeping a lower profile. Hopefully, this open discussion has had the collateral effect of placing any remaining or potential offenders on notice.
Again, gentlemen, anything you find offensive, please link to it in an email to Trains editor, Brian Schmidt:
Please identify the offender by name and include a few words telling Mr. Schmidt why you find the post offensive.
Mike, I was not refering to you, just answering the question of what happened to people like Guse. There are a lot here that love this site and railroading and enjoy/relax reading on topic questions and thoughts. As a relatively new person to this site, I have learned from those who work in this industry and I love hearing “the rest of the story” or comments that make me think, “Ya know, I didn’t think of that.” I have discovered there are many who agree with my wishes to get back to railroading and asking those with other agendas to move on down the line.
You may have observed that some people who constantly made off topic non-constructive insulting comments are no longer posting. That is probably because there are a number of people on this site that got fed up with it and complained to the editor (with the offenders name) and it appears they have been dealt with. Most visit this site for train topics and to gain information and insight from the many good people who post. I know I don’t read these comments to hear people constantly complain about the government, insult people, and ramble on about things that have zero to do with the topic at hand.
Although this statement is posted above the comment section when you make a post, “Please keep your feedback thoughtful, on-topic and respectful. Offensive language, personal attacks, or irrelevant comments will be deleted.” It became quite apparent that the editor was not minding the store, so some on here decided to “clean up our own streets” and you are now noticing the results.
Let’s hope we can now get back to Railroading!
You are right Larry. From this point forward I will stay on topic and refrain from straying to things that really don’t matter. I love this website and would hate to be band from it.
Mel and mo you are correct. What happened to the goose? He hasn’t trowled out any sludge in a while?
Well Larry those were some kind words and thank you for that. I do work in the industry and have now for almost 10 years now and I still learn something new almost every day. It’s a great place to work and my only regret is I was almost 40 when I started.

Not even an original idea. I’ve been to the Iron Triangle Park in Fostoria - it’s nice, and well laid out. It has a covered platform, and parking for tour busses and motor homes.
Matthew Nochols is just another Jeffery Guse wannabe troll, Mike.
I certainly don’t miss the Goosemeister, Mike.
