Larry & others - I had some initial success with Ms Laska-Swanke (Guse). However, according to a more recent message I received from TRAINS editor, Steve Sweeney, the best routing for future complaints of abuse is Brian Schmidt.
CHARLES KUEHN, is the best e-mail address for abuses:
Diane Laska-Swanke. dswanke@kalmbach.com
Or
Brian Schmidt: bmschmidt@trainsmag.com
I am reading more support for our effort. I think those who have been quiet are either showing support or writing themselves now that the ice is broken.
Is there a way to PM people that post here? I have only seen stuff on the forum side.
Thanks, Larry G.
The more cities and towns that create these parks, the more others will want to do the same. This is a win-win for local economies and railfans. And maybe even a way that police will learn not to view railfans as suspicious characters.
I keep hoping that Berea Ohio will get some type of railfan park. I know there was a movement at one time but it fell through.
It is curious that Dan Willard, who ran the B&O from 1910 to 1941 is now a 19th century president of the B&O. Surely TRAINS can do better than this.
For the cities that do have rail passenger service by these parks, be it Amtrak, commuter rail, light rail, streetcar, or a tourist line, it would help if these trains could make a stop there or at least provide some kind of notation in their informational brochures, or make an on board announcement at the very least as trains roll by.
How stupid
