In the January 2007 issue of MR Magazine the article starting on page 8o entitled “Modeling America’s First Oil boom” was a great article but I was looking for dimensions and sketches of the Oil Well platforms in both HO and N scale. I would also like sketches and suggestions on the Oil Tanks next to he Derricks. Has there ever been a how to article on making these Dericks? If not does anyone have any ideas?

Google the Petroleum Museum in Midland, Texas. If possible, visit it. It’s right next to I-20.
They have a lot of full-size artifacts, including a wooden oil derrick, nytroglycerine truck, all kinds and sizes of tanks, etc, etc… I don’t know about diagrams (histories tend to be long on words and short on useable pictures and drawings,) but, if you inquire, someone will probably answer.
Hope this helps.

You should be able to find some other resources online as well.
