OK,now I need a DIY paint stirrer ?

I bought a tube of Daisy BB’s; I dropped a BB in each jar of paint. Then I put the color I need in my Micro Mark paint shaker. It works like a champ!

Thayne.

I was removeing the pins holding the turkeys butt closed I thought of the bent wire post and said “perfect” one style is bent like a L and one is got a small O in the end ,I"m going to give a try …Jerry

I use BBs. Three in a 1 oz. jar of paint after I open it for the first time. The next time I use the paint, follow the instructions on rattle cans: shake vigorously until the BB’s start rattling, then for a minute after.

And to address mokenar’s comment, bubbles don’t matter to an airbrush - you’re spraying the paint into little droplets anyway, right? They could possibly cause problems when brushing paint on, however.

Daisy BBs. That’s what I’m looking for. And I think I know where I can get them. Thanks, Thayne. If not them, then shotgun pellets. They’d be heavier and would be good for making little weight bags for holding down parts while the glue dries.

And another vote for BBs.

When it comes to mixing paint, I have been one to shake the bottles so i have used small sticks. But after reading about the various ideas involving bent papers clips and a Dremel - or the $10 Badger device, I think I will give those a try. Thanks for the ideas.

YEP - the metal objects worked great - until they rusted in the WATER based paint!

That turned the paint junk in a hurry!

Use the Metal Objects if you want - but purchasing the Battery Paint Stirrer is the only way to go!

They’re plated. No worry about rust.

Hello I use a old 3/8 wood paddle bit grind down the point and put in my drill and mix away. Just wipe clean and it ready for the next one. Have a nice day Frank

That is what I thought too!

Bit the bullet and bought the Battery Stirrer and never looked back!

You might want to check in your local grocery supermarket for a drink stirrer. Around here, the supermarkets hang an awful lot of little gadgets off the edges of the shelves all up and down the aisles. I came across a battery operated drink stirrer when grocery shopping today. For $5.99 plus taxes I figured I’d give it a try. It even came with batteries. It works great and fits in all my paint jars. To clean it, I run it in the big jar of slightly soapy water that I clean my brushes in. Since it’s all plastic, I don’t know how it would stand up to solvent based paint and cleaning in paint thinner, but I do 99% of my painting with water based paints so it won’t be a problem. And the price is right.

yes ,I well HAVE to get one of the battery stirrers since my test with a old dremal and a home made stirring bit did not far well! [:'(] …OH it worked well enough but when I slipped old stile trigger to far while holding it the centrifugal force took the stirring bit and bent it over and I almost lost my thumb ,I do not recommend a dremmal ! 9.95 sounds fair enough now …Jerry …ps BUT when I was able to control the speed it worked great for the paint
