Dang, I think you beat me! Meet me in Cleveland.[;)]

What you have here is politicians kicking and screaming–It took Mr.Chastain [and the rail supporters] SEVEN tries to get this initiative passed to have light rail in KC… Now the people are getting the political equivalent of having their feet peed upon while being told it is raining!

There was a large article in the KC Star Sunday edition that put forward a plan for a light rail that involved a new technology that was first of all very expensive, and only working in France in a mild climate, apparently it operates with little success in icy conditions. {HELLO! Kansas City!}

Rather than Buy CSX Railroadstock, I think you’d better save your Confederate money…

Are the looking at APS, they underground power system?

Beaulieu:

From my limited electrical knowledge base, the article seemed to show and indicate that it was a power source for a “third” rail placed between the rails. It was some how switched to on only under the area the train occupies. the flow of electricity being monitored and controled by sensors, relays, switches or things like that. Apparently Alsthom[?] has an operating system in Bordeaux France. The article indicated that the main problem they had with this power system was that ice and snow caused it to malfunction.

Smoke and mirrors abound . The self serving politicos are at their crooked finest. The people are not at the top of the agenda . Take a good look at whose kin folk of which politican will benefit the most from this fiasco in tax payers dollars. [:D][}:)]. nuff said . I hear the hiway callin’ me ,gotta go.

Cannonball

Oh oh, if the “consultants” and others are going to work with others to determine which system to really, really fund, it sounds like the funds will end up buying buses, not right of way and trains. Until some relatives have a chance to buy the properties the light rail ROW will go through.

In Kansas City even though “Old Man” Pendergrass is dead the “Machine” lives on. Kansas City politics as usual. With a price tag of 1 billion dollars they should have voted it in 7 tries ago.
