Why don’t my headlights work on my Lenz decoder? They work fine on DC power and if I wiggle the loco around on the track enough, they will flicker a little with my Zephyr powering. I am lost as to what the problem might be. Ops mode programming of CVs seems to work fine. Is it the decoder, the Zephyr…? Also, how do you program bytes of CVs with multiple bytes? need help!!!
When you say it works fine on DC power, is this with the decoder installed simply running on the DC controlled layout. Or did it work on DC before the decoder was installed and now the headlight does not work on the DCC system?
On the DCC system do you have motor control? Can you run the loco without the headlights operating?
Pardon me if this seems like a dumb question, but did you command the lights on? You need to command Function 0 (zero) to toggle the lights on and off. Then, the front or back light will come on based on which direction the locomotive is heading. On my Lenz, I just pu***he zero button, but I don’t know the key sequence on a Digitrax.
MisterBeasley…you are proof there are no dumb questions…just dumb people asking those questions. I feel stupid, but that’s what the problem was. By the way, thanks to Simon1966 for the advice on the resistor…this worked perfectly! Thanks guys…John
Don’t feel bad, I did the same thing with my first locomotive I installed a decoder in.
good job! It is nice when the fault lies between the ears, not in the hardware you are operating. It is a lot less hassle to get it repaired!!
Sometimes I’d like to repair the fault that does lie between the ears…but that would be the biggest hassle of all!!!
