Walthers is distributing Hornby’s/Rivarossi’s H-8 (2-6-6-6) in January. I was hoping to make a preorder with a Tsunami. Oddly enough one of the larger train shops said, “Sorry we do not stock these.”
I wonder why they wouldn’t carry such a great engine?

Yeah Walthers does carry it. I was just hoping to get the Tsunami installation done with the train. (Perhaps with a little discount too 
) . I guess not.

Hornby is very unproven in the American market so it will be seen if and what they can do. Their previous forays into the American market were toylike out of scale stuff -think Tyco. How much resource they can devote to bringing back “upgraded” Rivarossi stuff and making a profit in the market will be a real challenge. Remember, much as you like RR steam and passenger cars, they have been repeatedly bankrupt in the market (AHM) and have never had sustained presence here. Everybody and their brother has been the RR importer at one time or another, so hope for the best, and buy what you can when you see it - it may not be here long.
