OKC Train Show Pics

I plan on attending this show Saturday and taking a lot of pics of HO and N scale layouts for ideas, etc. Anyone know of an easy and simple way for me to share them with everyone here and post them?

I’m not sure how many photos those free photo sites let you store and share for people to see.

Most of our club in Northern Oklahoma will be there also. You can use Photo Bucket to store and then post photos here. I plan to shoot a lot of pictures also and post a few good ones. You must be familiar with 18th Street Station there where you live. They should be at the show and always have good deals on P2K and Kato. See you there.

Photobucket.com is the simplist least frastrating site to use and there is way more space there than you need.

Yeah 18th Street is in Fayetteville where I live. Steve’s the one whos been helping me select the track to use on my new layout after a 5 year absence from the hobby. I’m converting to N scale from HO due to room issues and going to be using the KATO unitrack system. simple 2 ovals side by side and a siding with maybe a couple branches inside.

just gotta figure out how to do mountains and such so i can have it go in one but that’s another subject.

how many layouts are at this show?

This show will be a very large one. Last year there were many layouts of all gauges. The largest should be an Oklahoma City club called “Comrail”. There will be plenty of great things to photograph. Athearn will be there as well as Intermountain and may others. It should be a great show and I do know Steve and look forward to seeing that rascal again. He is a really great guy.

Morning all I too am planning to attend the OKC train show on Sat. I will be wearing a pair of black overalls and a red. white & blue NAPA racing ball cap, Stop me and say Hi if you would like. Mike

Any thoughts on how the severe winter storm effects the show? I live about 15 miles from the fairgrounds and we have more than an inch of ice and several inches of snow expected expected later today. We are not expected to break freezing until late tomorrow or Saturday.

I live up here in Enid. We currently have about 6 inches of snow with very large drifts from the wind. It is still snowing very heavily and not expected to end until around 6 this evening. It is supposed to be sunny with a high in the 40’s tomorrow. I would not think we should have any problems getting there Saturday morning. I am planning to go even if I have to use a Snowmobile. [swg]

I live in SW Okla and it has been snowing here all day, (Hard this afternoon) I am planning on leaving tommarrow evening and stay the night with my brother in Mustang and go to the show from there. I guess I will wait and see about the weather then, I would guess since it has been so warm the last week or so, the roads will clear fairly fast once the temps rise above the freezing mark and get some sunshine. Keeping my fingers grossed. Mike

Unless we get another several inches of ice, I plan on making the show. If the weather does not clear until saturday, I may wait until sunday. We have pcked up several inches of snow and it is snowing fairly hard here now. I am thinking that tomorrow will wild up a snow day for the local area as was today. Oh well. I day where no one calls and no ability to go to work. Christmas decorations are up so nothing else to do. Maybe I will catch up and build a few coal hoppers that I have laying around. Aren’t snowdays fun?

we’re in the middle of a sleet/snow storm here. no snow on the ground yet but the ice is starting to form. looks like it ends by friday morning so hopefully driving between here and oklahoma city will be ok by saturday. i’m assuming this is a rain or sleet event and won’t re-schedule so i’ll chance it if i have to to see this show.

Well, the snow is coming to a stop and the low tonight is expected to be in the single digits or lower. The weather forcast for tomorrow is a high in the mid twenties. Local law enforcement is saying that they do not want citizens to travel unless it is an emergency. Nearly all of the major highways in the area have sections closed.

I have attended the OKC train show for several years (I think this would be 9 or 10years in a row) and hate to say it but this year is looking iffy. The high on Saturday is only 33 and on Sunday 28. Some of the forcasts are better but they all have it very cold near freezing. My office was closed today and will be closed tomorrow.

To all of the vendors, please be careful, leave early and plan for exteremly slow travel. Many of you may already be here and I hope that you arrived safely.

Until this summer my wife and I lived in Tulsa. If we were still there the train show would be out of the question for us. For the rest of you please keep an eye on the weather and realize that a train show is not worth getting hurt. I was in a car accident more than a year ago and I am still have problems from the accident. I enjoy the train show and am a huge supporter, but it is not worth people getting hurt.

If you are coming to town and need local road and weather information please check

www.kfor.com

The two links above are to the local newspaper and two local TV stations. I have no connection to any of them. I would like for those of you coming from out of town to have access to best information so that you can make your own decisions. Either way, please be safe.

i’m a radio DJ in northwest arkansas and the weather here is pretty icey right now. during my show tonight i basically announced closings for all the area schools for tomorrow already.

it looks like the weather from tomorrow afternoon to saturday is just going to be sunny and highs around 30ish or so. i’d wanna leave around 7am or 8am saturday so i’m crossing my fingers the weather warms up and road crews get out and take care of the ice by then. i have hopes as long as this things ends early tomorrow afternoon that will happen.

thanks for those links. i’ll check 'em out before we were to leave.

Here is another link for Oklahoma road conditions

Morning, I am planning on leaving this evening but I may leave a little earlier than I had planned, I am in hopes the roads will clear today but may get nasty again tonight after the temps drop again. I will have to wait and see, and thanks for the links to the road conditions, I was wondering where they were . Good luck and hope to see you there. Mike

I’m going to still try and leave around 8am from NW Arkansas. I’m hoping road crews have them clear by then. If anyone has any updates throughout tonight that lives along the path I’m driving please post. Thanks. I’ll probably take I-540 south to I-40 west.

What troop and/or county is okc in?

jjryan, according ti the OHP the roads are clear in OKLA as of now, I do expect them to get bad after the temps drop tonight. Good luck, look me up tommarrow and say hello.

I am fixing to get in the shower and leave in time to get to my brothers in Mustang (a few miles west of OKC) befor dark.

Drive safely, and I will see you at the show.

I may check in later tonight if I can get on my brothers computer. Mike

(edit; ) OKC is in troop " A " Good luck Mike

what are you wearing again? i’ll be with my fiance and her 5 year old daughter. i’m not sure what i’m wearing yet though. probably something comfortable and warm so i don’t have to bundle up and be uncomfortable while walking around inside.
