September 3rd to the 23rd–UP Steam Operations–

Looks like those of us in Fly-over country are going to get a chance to see UP’s 844 and train!

Here is a link to the schedule for the UP Oklahoma Cenntenial sooner rocket, Should be a very impressive run in some new territory. I will be waiting impatiently for it to arrive in Wichita, KS. Once again UP impresses me with a steam operation that is truely second to none!

If you look under steam and preservation, I posted all the info about the train including schedules. I don’t know why this message is getting more responses than mine when I posted mine first. My title is UP844 in Oklahoma for Centennial steam special.

844 will be on public display @ Herington Thr 9/6 from 8-5, then on Fri 9/7 depart towards Wichita. On Sat 9/8 it will be on public display @ the downtown Great Plains Transportation Museum 8-5 then on Sun 9/10 depart for the next display @ Enid. This will mark the first visit of a live steam eng on this former section of Rock Island trk since 1952.
