Thanks so much for your thoughtful responses and suggestions. Fortunately the Mallet you referred to Tom runs just fine, albeit with the noise you mentioned. She crawls along when asked to. I’ll have a look into these Tomar shoes as well, since increasing contact is always a good thing.
I’ll have to come up with a plan to tackle this project, and part of that will include finding an LHS that actually has NWSL motors in the store.
And incidentally, I wasn’t joking when I said I’d be prepared to part with some brass in exchange for the re-work, so if anyone cares to chat about that they can PM me. Time (lack thereof) is my biggest enemy. To whit, I return to Asia August 8 and won’t be back til mid-October.
