Doing research for a friend. He has an old train engine and cars. The description he gave me is : It’s metal shell and has “MARINER” printed on the sides. It is 3 rail powered. He dosen’t remember seeing a manufacturers name on it. I don’t have any pictures to show. He has the engine in storage now but has said he will dig it out for a closer inspection. I’m not sure wether it’s pre or post war. Any information will be appreciated.
My guess is Marlines not Mariner by Louis Marx.
Probably 50’s.
Just a guess.
I agree Dub. Over the years, in what turned out to be exactly the engine you posted, I’ve been told people had a Marlee, Marines, Maryline, and a Marlin. So depending on whom you believed they had either the co-owner of Ebenezer Scrooge’s place of business, a military unit, something made in Maryland, or a fish! If Dub’s picture doesn’t help post the pictures and I’m sure someone will be able to identify it.
Thanks for Your input. That’s exactly what it is. He has the complete set in pretty good shape ,it still runs strong. No boxes though.
